Making of Baskets
Did you know? All VVC baskets are handmade from natural raffia palm leaves, designed in Greece and produced in Morocco through women-led initiatives that support women. Each basket is carefully woven by hand, with the production of one piece taking approximately one full day. This slow, artisanal process ensures durability, individuality, and long-lasting quality.
VVC baskets are an ideal gift choice: sustainable, eco-friendly, and timeless, created to be used and loved for many years. By choosing raffia instead of synthetic materials, they actively help reduce plastic waste and promote conscious, slow fashion.
About the Production & Women’s Cooperatives
The Moroccan women’s initiatives behind our baskets are powerful economic empowerment movements. Through local cooperatives, traditional home-based weaving skills are transformed into market-driven craftsmanship, providing women with independent income, improved living conditions, and access to education such as literacy and basic business planning.
Basket weaving is highly labor-intensive and often carried out as skilled home work, allowing women to balance family life while building sustainable livelihoods. Supported by government programs, NGOs, and international platforms, these initiatives strengthen community development and promote long-term independence for Berber women—despite ongoing challenges such as fair wage structures and global market competition.
Every VVC basket tells a story of craft, resilience, and women supporting women, blending Mediterranean design with meaningful social impact.
