Tailored with Care – A Family Affair - Atelier in Sitia, Crete
At VVC, we proudly collaborate with a small, family-run tailoring atelier in Sitia, Eastern Crete. Owner-operated and deeply rooted in craftsmanship, this is a place where everyone lends a hand when things get busy—father, mother, and daughter working side by side.
The family once ran a large tailoring business in Athens, which they were forced to close during the economic crisis of 2007/2008. Instead of giving up, they chose to downsize, refocus, and start again, finding a new home in Eastern Crete where tradition, quality, and personal connection could thrive.
Their work is defined by classic cuts, high-quality workmanship, and meticulous attention to detail. From linings and alterations to shortening, hemming, and custom adjustments, everything is done quickly, precisely, and by hand.
The atelier itself is always full of life. During longer meetings, guests are treated not only to a homemade mocha infused with cardamom, freshly brewed on a small burner, but also to homemade za’atar, handmade falafel, and wonderful local kritsini creations, lovingly prepared and shared. These small gestures turn every visit into a moment of connection, care, and genuine hospitality. Warmth and hospitality are not extras here; they are part of the craft.
This partnership reflects what matters most to us: fair trade, family-led production, and genuine human connection. It’s tailoring done with skill, care, and soul—right here in Sitia, Crete.
